Only 5 weeks until relay! Not sure if you had heard, but one of our cross country runners dropped out, so we are down a runner again. Paul has a lead on someone who may be able to run. Also, went on the site last night they have DRASTICALLY changed the route. Robert is looking at it and may need to re-assign the routes. Check it out, almost all the routes have had mileage added on to their original mileage. My route (#3) had 4 miles more, and is drastically harder. It was the 10th easiest route and is now #5 hardest. YIKES! Give input here, may have to drop out if we can't find another runner, what do you think of doing the Vegas Ragnar is Oct or AZ Ragnar in Feb? Still plan on keeping the work out schedule as follows:
Mon. July 11- cross training day
Tue. July 12- 3 miles
Wed. July 13- 4 miles
Thur. July 14- cross training
Fri. July 15- cross training
Sat. July 16- 7 miles
Sun. July 17- Off
Rode stationary bike for 45 minutes on Monday before taking boys to Logan for EFY. While running on Tue. around first mile, had shooting pain go through my right leg. Thought it was cramping from not stretching, so hopefully will overcome it next time. Does not feel like shin splints with constant pain, just sudden surge, will have to see if it happens again tomorrow. Still not sure if we got another runner or not, hopefully know soon, we have to turn in the rest of the money by the 20th.
ReplyDeletewhy are they changing the route? I will have to think and talk to Paul about these.
ReplyDeleteDid you go to the website? They changed your first leg to 6 miles. Robert was going to give me the 10th (easiest) which is #9. The first and second leg are "hard" and one of them is over 7 miles! Before my first leg was my longest at 5.88 miles, doable, but 7 plus a second uphill difficult climb on second is making me question if I am prepared physically.
ReplyDeletePaul said that they changed the route because the state wanted the race to be off the main roads as much as possible, taking long detours and back roads. He was also questioning his new route and if he could do it.
Great to hear you are doing well Aspen! Ran last night (Thur) around 8:30 to get used to a night run, did 3 miles. Biked this morning for 8 miles, why does the bike go so much faster than running? Plan on running my LONG 7 miles tomorrow, in the afternoon since I will most likely have a hot, long day run on relay day. Plan on bringing a camel back to stay hydrated, will let you know how it goes!
